Bubby's Blessing Tree
Bubby’s Blessing Tree

Bubby’s Blessing Tree began in 2025 as a way to continue one of Joseph “Bubby” Knott’s most cherished traditions—making Christmas magical for children.
For decades, Bubby welcomed families to Flat Iron Farm, where thousands of lights, visits with Santa, pony rides and holiday activities created treasured memories for generations of Southern Maryland families. But for Bubby, Christmas was about more than lights and decorations. It was about giving, bringing people together and making sure children experienced the wonder of the season.
Following Bubby’s passing in 2024, his family and friends came together for Bubby’s Christmas Farewell. The community responded with extraordinary generosity, helping raise more than $120,000. The Knott family increased its matching contribution to $200,000, bringing the total given to local charities and organizations to more than $320,000. The BayNet and The Lexington Park Leader documented the remarkable community effort.
Although the Christmas celebration at Flat Iron Farm came to an end, Bubby’s spirit of giving did not. Bubby’s Blessing Tree was created the following year to carry his Christmas legacy forward by helping provide gifts and holiday joy to local children who might otherwise go without.
Each Christmas, the Blessing Tree gives members of the community an opportunity to come together and make a child’s holiday brighter. Every gift shared through the program represents more than something placed beneath a tree—it is a reminder that a child is remembered, valued and loved.
Bubby believed that the greatest joy came from giving to others. Through this annual tradition, his kindness continues to shine, one child and one Christmas blessing at a time.
The lights at Flat Iron Farm may no longer glow, but through Bubby’s Blessing Tree, the light of his generosity continues to shine.
